Dunlop D606s, allegedly the gold standard for dual sport with heavy emphasis on off-road traction. We’ll see how they perform compared to the 11 year old original Bridgestones that these are replacing.

These are the standard rubber for the KLR 650. They’re okay. Not too good on the pavement IMO. But they’re good through mud and dirt for sure. My KLR powers through muddy puddles and inclines on the trails near me.

I don’t mind them being marginal on pavement, I didn’t buy the WR for street riding really. That’s what the FJR is for!

I had dunlops on one of my bikes for a while.. pretty good tires. Seemed to wear down pretty quick.. But what tire doesn’t??

You should try some shinkos next go round... I’ve been rocking the shinkos on my bikes for several years now and they kick all sorts of ass... Longest lasting tires I’ve had too... very sticky on pavement, but still kick ass in the dirt. And they’re cheap AF... .....

But congrats on the new meats- always welcomed.

The shinko “big blocks”— I’ve gone thru 3 or 4 sets of them now.. I really like them. I was using super expensive karoo 3 tires prior, but the shinkos, at half the price, are a better tire...

The big blocks are an enduro/adv tire though , not a dirtbike tire, but shinko does make a bunch of db tires too-

It looks like the 804 big block tires come in the right sizes for my WR, not sure what the technical difference is between a dirt bike tire and an enduro/adv tire besides the latter being a bit better for pavement..?

I think that’s the distinction- that enduro tires, while being off-road biased, still work on pavement pretty well. Both ride and wear wise. True k nobbies rule off-road, but they don’t last long on pavement... And they’re kinda sketchy on wet pavement too, not much of a contact patch while you’re balanced on 7-8 knobbies..

But if you’re going to be doing a lot of riding on the pavement too, and the big blocks fit your bike, consider them next time. They’re good tires. And $85 delivered versus $180 for most of the competitor tires, makes them damn good!

I only paid $200 total for the Dunlop set, so I didn’t do too bad there. If I get 5,000 miles out of these, I’ll be happy.

For road tires, I’ve been running Metzeler Roadtec 01s on the FJR, and I ge t a legit 10,000 miles on front and rear. Couldn’t be happier with those. They are about twice the price of Shinkos though.

Yeah, $200 for both is great deal . Cool.

That’s amazing you can get between 5000-10000 miles on your tires.

Out here in the rockies, we get much lower mileage from bike tires. People say it’s because the roads here are rougher (more freeze/thaw etc). I’m not exactly sure the reasons why ... but th e max I’ve ever gotten from a rear tire is 3500 miles-
